Mandarin Tutor
As commonly acknowledged, Mandarin is the most populous language in the world. I saw the advertisement shown on the newspaper one day. I dreamed to become a Chinese “chalk holder” without chalk talk since young so that I can show people about how interesting and intriguing Chinese language can be; which urged me to try this position as a Mandarin tutor for which I consider myself the right candidate in the following reasons.
People may wonder, among so many Chinese in Vancouver area, why you- a student in Maple Ridge Secondary School? Well, I am frank, straight forward and a lot more approachable which alters the student-teacher relationship to friends. You had been a student once, so of course you know that a person is more focused and learns quicker if he or she actually likes the teacher. I can make students like me and the way I teach. Even though I can not perfect, I can only better.
I possess a lot of good qualities for a Mandarin tutor. First, I had learnt many kinds of writing in Chinese. In my spare time sometimes, I practice calligraphy of Chinese characters with official script, regular script and cursive script. It is very crucial to have pretty handwriting since some characters are quite complex and similar. If a person does not write neat, it can be cumbersome, just like missing letters for English words could cause serious troubles and confusion. Besides, I had experiences in teaching. I’ve tried a variety of things in teaching different groups of people: I peer tutored in essay writing at school, volunteered as an assistant in two elementary schools. Those experience made me understand more about the leaners’ minds and the most efficient approaches of information passing. Last but not least, I love reading which extends knowledge with real examples, stories or anecdotes. This not only make students erudite but also cultivate their interests in this language.
Due to reasons above, I believe that I am the best candidate to be a Mandarin tutor. It is easy for a person to find a random job, but it is difficult for a employer who seeks perfection to find the right employee. With my unique teaching style, students can find joy in studying.

A part-time job
It has become a popular phenomenon for teenagers to have jobs while they are still students. As a result, a debate on whether it is wise for teenagers to have a part-time job. From my point of view, I think it beneficial for students to do so.
First of all, keeping a part-time job helps teenagers become more independent. As is known too all, most teenagers today are the only children in their families, therefore, they are being taken care of too well that they depend a lot on their parents or teachers. When doing a part-time job, they have to deal with problems on their own. Thus they will be more independent. What’s more, keeping a part-time job broadens teens’ horizons. Teens now face a lot of pressure from study. Most of them only focus on studying the subjects that schools offer. But to be an elite the society wants, knowledge from textbooks is far from enough. Teenagers also need to learn from lives. Keeping a part-time job is a practicable way to learn from all aspects of lives.
In conclusion, taking a job while teenagers still study not only helps them be more independent, it also provides them with more practical knowledge. It is indeed a profitable way for teenagers to be more competitive for the challenges in the future.
